ABOUT ARCHETEX OUTDOOR DESIGN CO.

Archetex Outdoor Design Co. is Matthew’s company, working out of Dallas. The name comes from arche and tex: the architecture of a space, built in Texas. The tagline is “unique design, timeless spaces.”

Most outdoor work gets quoted piece by piece: a concrete contractor for the slab, a framer for the cover, somebody else for the fence and a landscaper for the beds. Four quotes, four schedules, and nobody owning how the pieces meet. Archetex draws the whole space first, thinking about where the sun lands, where you walk and where the grill goes, and then builds it as one design.

The build side covers decks, covered patios, pergolas and pavilions, cedar and ranch fencing, flagstone walkways, stone and brick edging, and full planting design. The detail that tells you it is done properly is the one you cannot see afterwards: galvanized steel fence posts instead of wood at the soil line, and a compacted base under every walkway rather than stone laid onto graded dirt. Dallas County clay moves with the season and punishes shortcuts.

Every review Archetex has published is five stars, and they say the same two things over and over: communication the whole way through, and the site left clean. The best way to reach Matthew is to call. He is usually out on a job, not sitting at a desk.
